Digital storytelling

Hey!

In this project, I worked with Betül Akbaş, as usual. We tried so hard to come up with something that we would be %100 proud of. And we are. Betül Akbaş, my beloved gifted friend, did all the drawing. We got inspired from the things we love the most.

For those who do not understand the story, you are absolutely right. We will edit the video as soon as we can. But I will try to explain briefly here.

So there's this girl, Anita. She is just a normal water bender living in the water tribe with his father, her mother died when she was little, unfortunately. We also have a villain, Kazu. He is a mad man who swore to kill all the water benders, we're not sure why. Oh, and by the way not everyone can be a bender, you're just born with it. So Kazu attacks the tribe so Anita's father, wanting to protect his daughter, locks her powers into a seal. Kazu kills Anita's father and but he somehow finds out about the seal and steals it before running away. Now Anita has been looking for this mad man for two years without any powers. Then she comes to a village and our story begins.

Comic Strip: Dazed & Confused

Hey Guys!

Out of the three options, Betül and I decided to do a comic strip from the website makebeliefcomix.
But the characters and the backgrounds were limited, so we had a hard time finding a topic and an appropriate idiom. But we had a lot of fun. We even decided to make a comic strip of our own after this assignment. We will do the drawing and the painting as well.

It is about a boy who decided to become a hippie, but his parents did not approve his decision so he moved out. I guess he couldn't find happiness and peace out there, so he immediately regrets his decision and wants to come back home.. But will his parents accept him? What do you think? Should they?

We actually used two idioms. First one is 'out of the blue' which means without warning, unexpectedly. The other one is 'in a daze' which means unable to think clearly, confused. Click here for our comic strip. I hope we were able to make you guys smile even a little bit :)
The title is actually from a song, a hippie song, by Jake Holmes. Led Zeppelin, Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers and many singers covered the song 'Dazed&Confused'.
So the title and the idiom' in a daze' fit perfectly together.

Evaluation of a 'Webquest'

Hey.

This week our assignment was to evaluate a webquest.

The title given for the webquest is relevant to the topic. The title is the topic, actually. In the description it says: animals in zoo which are in Darıca Hayvanat Bahçesi. I don't think it is an efficient description. I mean what are we supposed to do about the animals in Darıca Hayvanat Bahçesi?

Grade level range is selected and very appropriate for the webquest. Keywords are provided and relevant for the webquest.

I find the introduction quite inefficient. It is too general for the topic. It does not give any relevant information about the animals in the zoo.

The description of the task is clear enough but the purpose of the task is quite easy for the learners' level rage.

The task is given some limits to the learners. They have to pick an animal that must be in the zoo and do some research so that they can create a model zoo exhibit. I do not think the task is appropriate for high school students.

Process page is divided into sections and the students know what to do. Activities are relevant to each other but I still think the subject is not appropriate.

Resources are given organized and listed in a meaningful way but students still have to do a lot of research so they may get lost in the website.

Conclusion is given but it does not give enough enough information about the topic. The topic is aspecitic one bu in conclusion it generalizes the subject to the whole animals around the world.

Podcast: A story of two rookie witches

In this project, I worked with Betül Akbaş. Actually at first we were going to go with a chant but although we wrote about 20 lines, we couldn't find the right melody. Actually this story came out with "deadline creativity". We know it includes some slang words but we wanted to be realistic and at the same time absurd. Ironic right? It is full of surprises. Sorry for the quality of the voice records but we really tried to do our best.

And finally, podcast is really useful and efficient. But I think visuality is more efficient.
